April - David Parr Lecture

Admission: FREE for members, $15 for guests

Online or in person, David Parr's magic lectures are what Bob Neale likens to "a gourmet meal," providing food for thought, good company and good conversation. His latest lecture, presented online, is in two parts. The first hour is an intriguing little collection of material developed during the pandemic time and one or two rediscoveries from his past. The second half is a Q&A session in which David will answer your questions about any aspects of his fifty-year career in magic. If you have questions about his published work, his creative process, getting booked on Penn & Teller: Fool Us, performing virtual shows, or anything else, this is your chance!

David Parr is an internationally acclaimed magician who created and costarred in Chicago’s longest-running magic show, which was chosen by the Travel Channel as one of the top nine magic shows in the nation! (Because top ten lists are so passé.) Magic fans will recognize David from his appearances on the hit TV show Penn & Teller: Fool Us. (https://youtu.be/em7zoY7mMg8) There, David’s magic skills were put to the ultimate test in front of the cameras, a live audience of hundreds, millions of TV viewers, and two very savvy Las Vegas magicians. (Spoiler alert...) David fooled them all and took home the coveted Fool Us trophy and won a spot in the duo's live show in Las Vegas! David’s writings about the art of magic can be found in several well-regarded books for magicians. His newest project is The Sorcerer’s Lair, (https://www.davidparr.com/2021/04/05/virtual-magic/ ) an online livestream show that a reviewer for The Linking Ring described thusly: “As close to the perfect virtual magic show as I have ever seen.”
